Attention filmmakers! It’s that time of year again and if you haven’t heard through the grapevine yet, Down Under Berlin has opened for submissions for the festival 2018.
Why enter? Because we are the leading Australian and New Zealand film festival in Europe and your film can be seen on an international stage in one of the most creative cities in the world. Plus, we have prizes and fancy laurels for you to put on your posters - so that’s got to be an incentive!
Our audience chooses our awards! We love to give them the power, as they are the backbone of why we bring film from down under to Berlin in the first place! 'Best Short Film' and 'Best Film' receive prizes from our changing yearly industry sponsors, and last year we also introduced two more short film prizes that are a result of our “Battle of the Shorts: Australia vs. New Zealand” evening, which we will definitely be coordinating again for 2018.

We are once again using Film Freeway because they are awesome and so easy to use for both you on the submitting end, and us on the receiving end and we are eagerly awaiting your films! So click the logo image and make it happen, filmmakers!
A few guidelines for submitting though: - as the name states we are an Australian and New Zealand film festival so your film needs to have a subject matter of the film strongly depicts Australian or New Zealand people, places, landscapes, cultures, or any other Australian or New Zealand themes and/or was filmed there.
- Was your film completely or partially produced and/or funded by an Australian or New Zealand entity or legal person? Good news you are also eligible!
- Also, at least one of the director(s) and/or the writer(s) of the film is from Australia or New Zealand or have their main residence there.
Full submission rules & regulations can be found on the Film Freeway submission page.
