Submissions are OPEN!

Down Under Berlin's Call For Entries for the 2019 festival is open!

It's true, the moment you've all been waiting for! (well, waiting since the end of the last festival at least!) Submissions are open for this year's festival.

If you are an Australian or New Zealand filmmaker, or if your films include Australian or New Zealand content, head to our FilmFreeway page to check out all the proper guidelines to be able to submit your film, and it could be screened in Berlin in September 2019.

Why submit? Apart from the fact that we are the leading Australian and New Zealand film festival in Europe, well...... you don't need us banging on about it, take it from the filmmakers' mouths!

“Amazing festival. Organizers are great and festival screenings are well attended. Definitely apply.” - Shane T. Hall, Concealed (DUB 2016)

“DUB is one of the warmest and intimate festivals I've attended. The atmosphere is friendly, authentic and professional. Very thankful to be selected by DUB.” - Mala Ghedia, No Monsters In Berlin (DUB 2017)

“A great festival that harnesses the personal love for their passion for film. A festival that really captures the pure essence of true cinema, really great to be involved in and very rare.” - Adam Jamsek, Solus (DUB 2018)

By submitting, you will compete for the audience awards for “Best Film” and “Best Short Film”. More about our awards here.

But its not just the shiny audience awards, the laurels for the film's poster, or the idea of being screened in Europe's creative capital: this festival brings together not simply fans of cinema from Down Under, but people from all over the world, converging on Germany's oldest independent cinema, to sit and watch these glorious films together and have a beer afterward. And who doesn't want to join in on that wonderful feeling?

So get to it, filmmakers! (and friends of filmmakers, make sure you pass it on) 😉

FINAL DEADLINE: 30 April 2019
